Junkyard Goddess Eco-Boutique was founded in 2016.
The owner of the business, Michelle Dolon, relocated to Indianapolis in 2010 after spending many years in Los Angeles working in the film industry with artists such as Tom Cruise, Gene Hackman, Dyan Cannon and Dave Thomas. While caring for her newborn son, she began selling her pieces on Etsy. In 2015 she launched Junkyard Goddess Milk Paint. She started taking on custom furniture upstyling jobs locally and also began offering room restyling on a budget. She became known for her artistic, milk-painted trunks and custom-painted two for country artist Carrie Underwood, who is featuring them on her latest tour. In June of 2016 she opened her first brick-and-mortar store, Junkyard Goddess Eco-Boutique, to showcase her work and works by other artisans, as well as unique environmentally-friendly items. She continues to offer custom-painting and room restyling, and is also providing workshops in milk-painting.
